Black Bean Paste Rice(짜장밥)


It is originated from China and becomes one of the most popular onedish in Korea. It is usually enjoyed with noodles or rice. You can make if from black bean paste but I just buy the special powder for this dish and cook it in half an hour.

Ingredients
1 packet of black bean paste powder ( at Korean shop)
potato, onion, carrot (chopped)
any seafood such as prawn, squid, scallop, mussel
oil for stir-frying

Instruction
Stir fry the chopped vegetable in a deep frying pan. When it is half done add in the seafood and cook until the seafood nearly done(about 2 minutes). While cooking make the sauce with mixing the powder with enough water to make runny liquid. When the seafood is about 90% done mix the sauce with stirring consistently. When the black bean paste is done( about 2 minutes) serve it with rice or noodles.

Tips
- Cooking of this dish is similar to cooking curry if you can buy the black bean paste powder.
- If you can't buy the powder use the black bean paste sold at any Chinese shop for the sauce. Stir fry the paste with the same amount of oil as the paste for more than 10 minutes.
- If you can't find either the paste or powder why don't we try this dish with just soy sauce. I might try it with squid ink or blended black bean. If I try I will definately post it.
